YANGON, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi has called for exploring diverse ways of surmounting the country's challenges, while looking to friends across the world to join in the country's ventures and adventures.

Aung San Suu Kyi, in her capacity as the chairperson of the Development Assistance Coordination Unit (DACU), made the call in her opening address at the Development Effectiveness Roundtable held in Nay Pyi Taw Monday, Myanmar News Agency reported Tuesday.

"This is one of the most challenging periods in our nation's post-transition process. These challenges present us with opportunities to strengthen our commitment to peace and national reconciliation as a foundation for democratic consolidation in Myanmar," she said.

She noted that DACU is keenly aware of the new global reality and are looking at how best the government can position Myanmar to take advantage of this brave new world.

During the sessions of the roundtable involving foreign diplomats, United Nations officials and World Bank officials, Myanmar's socio-economic issues, sustainable development plan and its policy and the role of non-governmental organizations in providing assistance for development were discussed.
