TOKYO, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday, snapping a three-day losing streak, as pension fund buying buoyed the market with the U.S. Federal Reserve hiking its interest rates also providing support.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 211.02 points, or 0.99 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 21,591.99.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 11.10 points, or 0.65 percent, to finish at 1,727.39.

Mining, oil and coal product, and services-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.

Markets here were closed on Wednesday for a national holiday.
