Pakistan's motorbike output shoots up

ISLAMABAD, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's production of motorbikes during the first eight months of the fiscal year of 2017-18 shot up by 17.33 percent or 185,641 units to 1,257,095 units when compared with the production of 1,071,454 units recorded during the same period of previous year.

On a yearly comparison, the production of motorcycles in Pakistan grew to 145,376 units in the month of February 2018, which was 7.28 percent more when compared with the production of 135,507 units reported in the same month of the last year.

According to the data issued by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturing Association (PAMA) on Thursday, the production of Honda motorbikes jumped by 16.51 percent to 729,382 units during the eight months of the fiscal year of 2017-18 as against 626,040 units produced during the same period of previous fiscal.

Similarly, the production of Suzuki motorbikes also improved by 11.06 percent to 14,455 units during the period under review as against the production of 13,016 units in the same period of last year.

The production of motorcycles by Yamaha also posted an augmentation of 56.31 percent as the company produced 11,567 units during the eight-month period as against the output of 7,400 units witnessed during the same period of last year.

The production of Ravi motorbikes increased by 30.54 percent to 18,328 units during the period under review as against the output of 14,040 units during the same period of last fiscal.

During the eight-month period of the fiscal year of 2017-18, the production of motorcycles by United Auto Industries Limited jumped by 25.05 percent to 268,091 units as against 214,379 units produced during the identical period of the last year.
