TOKYO, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Monday morning as the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar dented investor sentiment and sent issues broadly exposed to overseas markets, like exporters, lower.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 100.64 points, or 0.45 percent, from Wednesday to 22,372.14.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 7.3 points, or 0.41 percent, at 1,764.22.

Decliners were led by precision instrument, securities and insurance comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
