Serbia's technics fair opens window into future of industrial development

BELGRADE, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Smart factories, efficient production and new technologies which will be vital for the modernization of Serbia's industrial capacities in future are in the focus of the 62nd Fair of Technics and Technical Achievements that opened at Belgrade Fair on Monday.

Under the slogan "Step into the future", the most important fair in the region is dedicated to promoting new technologies and innovations, with a focus on industry 4.0 and efficient production technologies.

Fair visitors will, until May 25, get to know the latest trends in industry, electrical energetics, innovations and new technologies, energy efficient production, water and gas filtration, transport, logistics, packing and many other areas.

Participants from China, Japan, Russia, France, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Egypt are among 600 exhibitors from over 30 countries.

Minister without portfolio in charge of innovations Nenad Popovic said at the opening that the fair is of special importance to Serbia, because since it was established it represented a reflection of the state of the economy and industry.

According to him, the number of exhibitors reveals the increased interest of the industry for the fair, because "technological development based on innovative capacities is beginning to spark positive changes in Serbia's economy".

"I deeply believe that here, under this roof, we have the essential levers that can enable Serbian economy a fast transition towards its digital future," he said.

Popovic said the government is making immense efforts to improve the country's economy through accelerating growth, strengthening industry's technological capacities in order to make it competitive, and stimulating the digitalization of the industry and moving towards the 4.0 concept.
