Vietnam cueists finish top three at Billiards World Cup

HO CHI MINH CITY, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese cueists dominated at the Three-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup, securing the top three places at the three-day event which concluded here on Sunday.

Tran Quyet Chien, who is now ranked 18th in the world, beat his compatriot Ngo Dinh Lai in the score of 40-39 to win the champion, becoming the first Vietnamese to top the Billiards World Cup.

2017 Asian champion Nguyen Quoc Nguyen, who is currently ranked 15th in the world, and the world's No. 1 Caudron Frederic from Belgium jointly shared the third place.

The tournament's total cash prize was 16,000 euros (18,700 U.S. dollars) with 10,000 euros (11,700 U.S. dollars) for the champion.
