TOKYO, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning as the U.S. dollar's rise to a six-month high against the yen made exporter issues an attractive proposition for investors.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 242.71 points, or 1.11 percent, from Wednesday to 22,174.92.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 11.31 points, or 0.66 percent, at 1,713.19.

Fishery, agriculture and forestry, information and communication, and pharmaceutical-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
