Tokyo stocks advance in morning on weak yen, solid earnings

TOKYO, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks climbed Friday morning, as a weaker yen against the U.S. dollar coupled with solid earnings reports from domestic firms lifted investor sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 295.17 points, or 1.33 percent, from Thursday to 22,483.13.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.63 points, or 0.74 percent, to 1,722.31.

Services, textile and apparel, and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
