Part I Establishment of Socialism Lays Foundation for Poverty Reduction (1949-1977)

1949年,中華人民共和國成立,實(shí)現(xiàn)了民族獨(dú)立、人民解放。但是,封建土地制度造成中國農(nóng)業(yè)生產(chǎn)力落后,農(nóng)民普遍貧困。有外國人預(yù)言,中國政府解決不了人民的吃飯問題。在一窮二白基礎(chǔ)上,中國共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人民實(shí)行土地改革,建立社會(huì)主義制度,解放和發(fā)展生產(chǎn)力,在較短時(shí)間內(nèi)解決了全國人民的吃飯問題。

After the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was founded in 1949, the nation became independent and the people emancipated. However, China’s agricultural production remained backward and most of the farmers were still poor due to the feudal land system. Some foreigners claimed that the Chinese government is not capable to feed its own people. Despite the state of “poverty and blankness”, the Communist Party of China (CPC) led the Chinese people to carry out a national-wide agrarian reform, established the socialist system, freed productive forces in rural areas, increased farmers’ incomes and relieved rural poverty to a relatively large extent.
