Indonesian foreign tourist arrivals rise in first 11 months in 2017

JAKARTA, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign holidaymakers coming into Indonesia from January to November 2017 grew 21.84 percent to 12.68 million people, the national statistics bureau announced here on Tuesday.

For November in 2017, the number of foreign tourist arrival expanded 5.86 percent to 1.06 million people on yearly basis, head of the bureau Kecuk Suhariyanto revealed.

But the number of tourist arrival in November contracted 8.42 percent compared with the figure in October, he said.

"The eruption of Mount Agung volcano affected the number of foreign tourist arrivals in to Bali and Lombok," he said, referring to the center of the country's tourism industry.

China, followed by Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and India contributed the highest figure of foreign visitor to Bali with respectively 13.36 percent, 12.25 percent, 11.30 percent, 7.81 percent and 3.77 percent, said Suhariyanto.
