TUNIS, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Industrial production decreased by 1.1 percent in the first eleven months of 2017, the National Institute of Statistics of Tunisia announced on Friday.

This decline is essentially due to the low productive growth of manufacturing industries, especially with the mining production deterioration of 9.2 percent.

As for non-mineral mining products, the productive decline is 5.5 percent, because of the fall in cement production, oil refining and chemicals products.

It should be noted that the phosphate stock at the Tunisian chemical group (GCT), main processing plant for mining products in Tunisia, located in the southeast of the country, was completely exhausted until the end of January 2018, confirmed by Toufik Jamal, regional director of GCT production units.

According to Jamal, this situation remains worrying, especially since the supply remains impossible neither by train nor by other means of transport, because of many strikes, social movements as well as protests of jobseekers in the mining basin in South Tunisia
