MADRID, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane brushed away fears of losing his job if his side lose to Paris Saint Germain in their forthcoming last 16 Champions League tie.

Real Madrid entertain big spending PSG in the first leg of the tie on Wednesday night with the game coming with Zidane's side trailing Barcelona by 17 points in the Liga Santander and having been knocked out of the Spanish Cup by Leganes.

Defeat to the French team, who will line up with former Madrid targets Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their starting 11, would effectively end Madrid' s season and with Zidane already under pressure, it could probably mean he is not at the club next season or even before then.

However, speaking to the press in his official pre-game press conference, Zidane said he was not under the spotlight.

"I don't have to show anything tomorrow," he said. "All I can do is focus on the game; that is what important, not what people say about me."

The coach insisted there was "no extra pressure," adding he had not undertaken any special preparations for Wednesday's match.

"What I want is for us to play good football, we have the players to do that and I am not thinking about anything else that may happen ... What is important is to focus on the game and how we start it," continued Zidane.

Finally he commented that the tie was not a comparison between Neymar, the most expensive player in the world, and Cristiano Ronaldo: "this is between Real Madrid and PSG," he concluded.
