JAKARTA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian soft tennis team is optimistic that it will secure at least one gold and four other medals in the Asian Games this year in Indonesia.

Manager of Indonesia soft tennis team, Henri Susilo Pramono set the target based on the achievement and performance of the Indonesian team in the 7th Thailand Open International Soft Tennis Championships in Nakchon Ratchasima this February.

The Indonesian team secured one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

The performance and capability of the Indonesian soft tennis players have pointed to a positive trend.

"We are happy with the performance. The players can compete with strong opponents from Asian regions and countries like Chinese Taipei and Japan who both fielded their best players," Pramono said.

Playing in their home country during the Asian Games will benefit the Indonesian soft tennis players, Pramono said.

"The association targets five medals in the Asian Games, and we think the players can achieve it if they keep showing their best performances," he added.

The 18th Asian Games is to be held in Indonesian capital of Jakarta and in Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra province.
