RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian presidential candidate Ciro Gomes, from the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), was released from the hospital on Wednesday after an overnight stay to undergo a prostate procedure.

The 60-year-old candidate was admitted to a local hospital in Sao Paulo after reportedly feeling discomfort. According to the hospital, the operation was an endoscopy process, which lasted some 30 minutes, and did not require a stay in the Intensive Care Unit.

Gomes currently ranks third in all election polls for the presidency. After leaving the hospital, Gomes headed straight for a presidential debate held by local TV station SBT.
