U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Thursday with the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Shares of TAL Education and New Oriental surged 14.25 percent and 5.77 percent respectively, leading the advancers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday, rebounding from previous session's sell-off as investors digested third-quarter earnings reports as well as major economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 401.13 points, or 1.63 percent, to 24,984.55. The S&P 500 rose 49.47 points, or 1.86 percent, to 2,705.57. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 209.93 points, or 2.95 percent, to 7,318.34.

As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,282.35, marking a 17.95-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 26.16-percent loss for the year-to-date returns.
