RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Fluminense have secured a 12-month loan extension for Fiorentina right-back Gilberto Moraes, the Brazilian club said on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old will be tied to the four-time Brazilian Serie A champions until December 31 next year, when his four-year contract with the Italian club is also due to expire.
Gilberto, a former Brazil U-21 international, made 36 appearances for Fluminense in 2018 and scored six goals.
He is due to resume training with his Fluminense teammates when the squad returns from its off-season break on Thursday, the Rio de Janeiro club said in a statement.
Fluminense finished 12th in Brazil's 20-team first division league standings in 2018.
