YANGON, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will hold the Motion Picture Academy Awards presenting ceremony for 2018 in Yangon in March, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Friday.
The event, to be organized by the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, is scheduled to be held at Shwe Htut Tin compound on March 23.
A total of 11 film academy awards for the year 2018 will be presented to the country's outstanding artists after scrutiny out of 83 movies.
The 11 awards include Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Music, Best Sound and Best Editing awards.
This year's event will also feature some special awards, including Special Lifetime Achievement award, Best Child Actor, Best Costume, Best Makeup and Hair, Best VFX (Visual Effects) Animation and Best Sound Design.
Aiming at encouraging domestic film production and brining up its quality, the film academy award presentations were annually held since 1952.
The last film academy award presentation for the year 2017 was held in Yangon in March last year, in which 12 awards were presented.
