Denmark's Antonsen wins men's single title at badminton Indonesia Masters

JAKARTA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Anders Antonsen of Denmark made a marvelous debut in Indonesia Masters badminton tournament by defeating Japanese top-seeded Kento Momota in men's single final here on Sunday.

The Dane went through tough struggle to win the match 21-16, 14-21, 21-16 in one hour and 19 minutes.

"I am very happy to play here, the spectators' enthusiasm was so enormous. This is my biggest dream to win in Istora. This is my first final and get the champion right here, so this is very crazy," the 21-year-old told a press conference in landmark badminton arena Istora Senayan.

It is the first time that Antonsen played in Badminton World Federation World Tour Super 500 tournament. He earned a prize of 26,250 U.S. dollars by winning the Indonesian championship.

Antonsen advanced to the final after defeating 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Jonatan Christie from Indonesia in the semifinal on Saturday.
