JAKARTA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Eleven houses, a lighthouse, a church and a health clinic had been destroyed in a strong earthquake that rocked western Indonesia on Saturday, a disaster agency official said here on Monday.

However, no casualties were reported, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the national disaster management agency told Xinhua in a text message.

Most of the people in Mentawai district of West Sumatra province rushed outside their houses for fear of possible aftershocks, Sutopo said.

A total of 52 foreshocks and aftershocks occurred, one of them being 6.0 magnitude and others moderate, according to the meteorology and geophysics agency.

The main shock of 6.1 magnitude struck at 16:27 p.m. local time on Saturday, with the epicenter located 117 km southwest of Mentawai island and the depth being 17 km under seabed, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.
