GAZA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Israeli war jets attacked on Wednesday night, with air-to-ground missiles, military posts belong to the Islamic Hamas movement's military wing east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, security sources said.

The sources said that several missiles were fired at Hamas military facility, adding that several explosions were heard in the area and the facility was destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

The Israeli airstrike on Hamas military facility came shortly after Gaza activists released several arson balloons carrying explosives from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, the Israeli army said in a press statement.

The statement said that one of the balloons exploded over one of the houses in southern Israeli area of Ashkol, causing damage to the house's windows, no injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, the politburo chief of Hamas movement Ismail Haniyeh returned to the Gaza Strip earlier on Wednesday after Haniyeh and a senior Hamas delegation spent in Egypt for 24 days.

Khalil al-Hayyah, a senior Hamas leader, said "the visit to Cairo was fruitful," adding that Hamas expressed hope that Israel would be committed to the Egyptian-brokered calm understanding and end 12 years of blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
