BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The Taiwan exhibition at the upcoming Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition covers 2,000 square meters, with six sections featuring the island region's unique landscapes, said Ma Xiaoguang, the spokesperson with the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a press conference Wednesday.

The expo scheduled to open on April 29 will last 162 days, displaying a huge collection of plants, flowers and eye-catching pavilions as well as ideas for green development at home and abroad.

From April 16 to 20, delegations from Taiwan's Yilan, Taitung, and Hualien counties visited Jiangsu Province and Shanghai to promote tourism and farm produce, according to Ma.

"The counties have reached more than 10 collaboration outcomes with Jiangsu and Shanghai on tourism, agricultural cooperation, and farm produce purchases," he said.

Ma stressed that visits of local Taiwan officials to the mainland complied with demand of the public on the island as it was in the public interest to strengthen exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait, develop the economy and improve the public wellbeing.

"We are willing to, on the basis of upholding the 1992 Consensus, continue carrying out exchanges and cooperation on various areas with counties and cities in Taiwan," he said.
