KUWAIT CITY, June 29 (Xinhua) -- China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) held firefighting drills on Saturday on its construction site in the desert region of central Kuwait.

Nearly 40 newly-recruited overseas workers of CGGC participated in the drills under high temperature.

The workers completed the drills in an efficient and orderly manner in a short time, winning praise and applause of the audience.

Kang Hai, head of Occupation, Health and Safety Department of CGGC's infrastructure construction project in Kuwait, said that safety training is a compulsory course for every overseas worker of the project.

"We have turned the theory into practice by organizing such firefighting drills and other activities. We strive to make everyone in the project gain fire emergency response capabilities," he said.

Abdul Rouf, director of overseas labor of the project, said that CGGC attaches great importance to fire safety of the project.

"Our company regularly provides fire safety training for overseas workers through training and drills. Our workers have improved safety awareness and operational firefighting ability," he said.

CGGC's infrastructure network is part of the Kuwaiti South AL Mutlaa Residential Project and is the largest project for CGGC in the Kuwaiti market.

The construction area for the CGGC is nearly 30 square km and started officially at the end of April 2017.

The South AL Mutlaa Residential Project is an important welfare project in Kuwait. The total construction area of the project is 100 square km, and it will accommodate 400,000 people after completion.
