Uganda appoints Mubiru as caretaker coach of national football team

KAMPALA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) on Wednesday appointed Abdallah Mubiru as the caretaker coach of the national team.

FUFA President Moses Magogo said Mubiru's first assignment would be the 2020 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers. Uganda will face Somalia in the first round of the qualifiers late this month.

Former head coach Sebastien Desabre's contract was terminated on July 6 shortly after Uganda lost to Senegal 1-0 in the round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Magogo said Mubiru would be assisted by Livingstone Mbabazi, Sadiq Wasswa and former national team captain Geoffrey Massa. Enditem
