BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Disney's ambitious remake of "The Lion King," its classic full-length animated feature, led the Chinese mainland box office for a fifth day on Tuesday, the China Movie Data Information Network reported Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the film with its dazzling computer-generated imagery (CGI) visual effects pocketed 41.48 million yuan (about 6.03 million U.S. dollars) in box office revenue, making up around 35.5 percent of the total box office of the day.

"The White Storm 2: Drug Lords," the adrenaline-filled action film directed by Herman Yau, remained second on the list with a daily earning of 36.9 million yuan, with its total box office exceeding 1 billion yuan by Tuesday.

"Looking Up," a domestic drama film still in presale, overtook "Spider-Man: Far from Home" and rose to third place with a daily presale earning of 18.85 million yuan. Starring domestic actor Deng Chao, the film tells the story of a Chinese father and his son in the 1990s.
